Complete list of features
of the Challenge OLR-300 Online Respirometer system:
- Uses full-strength mixed liquor.
The OLR-300 system uses mixed liquor from an operating treatment plant
to assess the oxygen uptake characteristics when operating under a variety
of input conditions.
- Four modes of operation.
The OLR-300 system can be operated in FOUR modes: 1) mixed liquor only
with continuous feed to the reaction vessel to determine instantaneous
OUR for control purposes, 2) mixed liquor continuously plus wastewater
feed continuously in a wide range of loading rates or food-to-microorganism
ratios, 3) batch mode with mixed liquor only to provide batch OUR for
diagnostic purposes, and 4) batch mode with mixture of wastewater and
mixed liquor for diagnosing biodegradation characteristics of the wastewater.
- Instantaneous response.
The high rate of turnover of the mixed liquor during OUR monitoring
tests provides rapid response to changes in influent conditions.
- Larger reactor volume.
The standard reaction vessel has a 1.5 L working volume.
- Operation with enriched oxygen
is possible. The headspace within the reaction vessel can be
operated at almost any oxygen content from air (21%) to 95% to simulate
treatment systems using high-purity oxygen processes.
- pH monitoring can be provided.
(Optional feature)
- ORP monitoring can be provided.
(Optional feature)
- Compatible operating temperature.
The operating temperature of the reaction vessel is the same as that
in the source mixed liquor basin.
- User-set OUR levels for alarms.
User-set oxygen uptake rates can be used to flag high or low OUR conditions
in an aeration basin.
- Suited for assessing the presence
of toxic conditions. The OUR-300 system is ideally suited for
assessing biodegradation characteristics, including toxicity, of candidate
wastewater streams.
